10,000 Tickets Snapped Up in Days for First Concert at Bankwest Stadium

Fans are clamouring to see iconic Aussie bands Cold Chisel and Hoodoo Gurus in the first ever concert at Bankwest Stadium, with 10,000 tickets already taken up in pre-sales for the event.

General public tickets go on sale 11am Monday for the historic concert to be staged on Friday 24 January – the perfect way to kick off the Australia Day weekend.

Tickets can be purchased via Ticketek here

The Bankwest Stadium show is the only Sydney appearance by legendary Cold Chisel on their Blood Moon Tour 2020.

Bankwest Stadium CEO Daryl Kerry urged fans keen to witness Cold Chisel return to the stage – along with Hoodoo Gurus, Birds of Tokyo and Busby Marou – to book early as the show is expected to sell out in advance.

“Cold Chisel and Hoodoo Gurus playing live at Bankwest Stadium on the Australia Day weekend . . . it doesn’t get much better or more Australian than that,” Mr Kerry said.

“From 11am Monday, general public tickets go on sale for the concert, which promises to be a very special evening for the Stadium and for Western Sydney.”

Bankwest Stadium is a 30,000-seat rectangular stadium in Parramatta that was built with the event experience front of mind. It features the steepest grandstands in the country and gets fans closer to the action than ever before, either for sport or entertainment events.

Mr Kerry said feedback from fans had been overwhelmingly positive and there was widespread excitement about the first concert at the Stadium.

“By any measure, Bankwest Stadium has been a fantastic success in its first six months of operation and the fans have voted with their feet by turning up for the events,” Mr Kerry said.

Since their legendary Last Stand back in 1983, Cold Chisel has reformed for just four national tours, but they almost always played indoors and those gigs didn’t happen over the holidays.

“We’ve only done four tours since the early 80’s so we need to make each of them count,” said Chisel’s legendary frontman, Jimmy Barnes.

“We knew that if we were going to get the band back together for another full tour it would have to be something really special.”

Cold Chisel’s classic songs like Khe Sanh, Flame Trees, Bow River, My Baby, Cheap Wine, Saturday Night and You Got Nothing I Want have become the soundtrack to our Australian summers and will now be the soundtrack to Bankwest Stadium’s first ever concert.

Over the course of their career, Cold Chisel has sold almost 7 million albums across vinyl, cassette, CD, downloads and streaming.

They’ve been inducted to the ARIA Hall Of Fame and received the Ted Albert Award for Outstanding Services to Australian Music.
