Ronald McDonald House Charities Western Sydney
CommBank Stadium (Western Sydney Stadium) teamed up with Ronald McDonald House Charities Greater Western Sydney when we opened our doors to the public in April 2019.
Since that time, the charity partnership has gone from strength to strength despite the challenges of a global pandemic.
Ronald McDonald House Charities Greater Western Sydney is an independent, not-for-profit organisation dedicated to providing vital programs for families with seriously ill children.
The very first Ronald McDonald House in Australia opened in Camperdown next to the Children’s Hospital in 1981. In 1995, RMHC Greater Western Sydney (GWS) relocated the House to Westmead to continue providing vital services to families after the hospital had relocated to Western Sydney. Today, the Westmead House provides a safe place to stay for around 2000 families per year.
Given its location just across Parramatta Park from CommBank Stadium, the stadium is a perfect venue for helping families who are staying at the House, with many families enjoying a day or night at the footy or a concert, bringing joy at a time of need.
CommBank Stadium recently hosted a Black-Tie Event to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Ronald McDonald House.
Ronald McDonald House is often called The House That Love Built, and CommBank Stadium is proud of our partnership.
