Leeds United captain Liam Cooper was joined by Western Sydney Wanderers captain Mitchell Duke at Bankwest Stadium this morning ahead of the historic fixture tomorrow.

“This looks like a quality stadium and a quality pitch – it reminds me of what we have back home,” said Cooper.

“It’s going to be a great experience for us tomorrow, we’ve got great support out here and we can’t wait to put in a good performance.”

“It really does feel like home already – we’re excited to be back,” said Duke.

“I’ve received so many messages from fans saying how excited they are for the game tomorrow and our return home. I couldn’t think of a better game to open the Stadium for us.”

Bankwest Stadium CEO Daryl Kerry has urged football fans to use the public transport included in their ticket and to arrive early in Parramatta to make sure they get the full event day experience at the Stadium.

“This promises to be a very special event with the Western Sydney Wanderers returning home and Leeds United fans turning up in number to support the club,” Mr Kerry said.

“The streets of Parramatta and the Stadium precinct will be alive and fans are encouraged to come out early and enjoy the evening, and be inside the Stadium well before the 7pm kick-off.

“Two great clubs, and both with passionate supporters, the atmosphere at this event will be amazing.”

Transport for NSW Coordinator General Marg Prendergast said there would be plenty of extra transport services running to connect customers to Bankwest Stadium.

“To help fans get to the game, we’ll have trains running to Parramatta every 10 to 15 minutes in both directions, as well as extra bus services to Parramatta Interchange from the city, northwest and western suburbs,” Ms Prendergast said.

Fan should only drive to the Stadium precinct if they have secured parking.

The tour marks Leeds United’s first visit to Australia since 2002 when Aussie stars Harry Kewell and Mark Viduka were pulling on the famous white kit.

Leeds’ charismatic manager Marcelo Bielsa will be on the sideline opposite former German international turned Wanderers coach Markus Babbel.
