Win for fans with transport included in tickets for Wanderers v Leeds at Bankwest Stadium on Saturday

In a massive win for football fans, return travel on public transport services will be included in tickets to the historic Western Sydney Wanderers v Leeds United game at Bankwest Stadium this Saturday.

The included transport comes courtesy of Bankwest, with the venue’s naming rights partner helping fans score a ride to the first football game at the Stadium.

Bankwest Executive General Manager, Customer Experience, Andrew Chanmugam said: “What an amazing experience for the local community and supporters in Western Sydney to see a world-famous club like Leeds United playing the Wanderers at a world-class venue. We’re pleased to add to that experience by paying for patrons travel on public transport to and from the game.”

Event-goers will be able to catch the train, bus or other public transport services to and from Parramatta using just their event ticket, making public transport an attractive travel option for the game.

The historic fixture will see the Wanderers return to their spiritual home in Parramatta for the first time take on iconic English club Leeds United.

And with a large crowd expected fans are being encouraged to arrive early and take advantage of the now included public transport to and from the game.

Gates are scheduled to open at 5:30pm with kick-off locked in for 7:00pm.

Bankwest Stadium CEO Daryl Kerry today thanked Bankwest and Transport for NSW for agreeing to the public transport initiative and encouraged football fans to jump on public transport to the game this weekend.

“Bankwest Stadium has been built for the fans and we want every part of the experience on Saturday to be enjoyable in what will be a special evening for football fans,” Mr Kerry said.

Transport for NSW Coordinator General, Marg Prendergast said there would be plenty of extra transport services running to connect customers to Bankwest Stadium.

“To help fans get to the game, we’ll have trains running to Parramatta every 10 to 15 minutes in both directions, as well as extra bus services to Parramatta Interchange from the city, northwest and western suburbs,” Ms Prendergast said.

Bankwest Stadium is a short 10-minute walk from the Parramatta Transport Interchange in the Parramatta CBD with regular train and bus services running to and from the hub.

An accessible shuttle bus service for patrons with a disability or mobility impairments will run between Parramatta Interchange and the Stadium on Saturday.
