Cheers and Jeers make way for Angelic Voices at Bankwest Stadium

Conductor replaced coach at Bankwest Stadium last week as Western Sydney’s all-star symphonic choir River City Voices burst into song.

The west’s finest choristers lined up at the Stadium for an open rehearsal in preparation for their recording project Welded Voices, supported by City of Parramatta Council.

The Welded Voices project has been developed in association with Information and Cultural Exchange (ICE) and its Club Weld musicians. That’s CW musicians Jerrah Patston and Sam Worrad at the front of the choristers tonight.

The mini-event represented a significant departure from our normal events at the Stadium with the arena transformed from pitch to performance hall.

River City Voices’ appearance marked the second time a niche musical performance has taken over Bankwest Stadium after the Greater Sydney Orchestra staged an iconic filming session on the arena floor in March 2020.

The performance was significant enough to gain the attention of Local Member for Parramatta, Geoff Lee, who was one of a lucky few in attendance that evening.

The relationship with River City Voices is another feather in the cap of the Stadium’s efforts to embed itself as a home for the wider Western Sydney community
